Portraits of concrete walls, symbol of barrier and border but also locally in Liguria, of the lost knowledge of the ancient art of building stone walls. Among the stones, once patiently placed and laid by the elders, snails used to find their shelter.
Those animals are now almost extinct due to the use of chemical fertilizers in the countryside. On these fragments of walls, snails draw labyrinthine constellations as they pass, on what I like to define a” landscape” where nature and time display their revenge on artifice.
Ritratti di muri di cemento, non solo simbolo di barriera e di confine ma a livello locale, in Liguria, simbolo della sapienza non tramandata di costruire muretti a secco. Fra le pietre che un tempo i vecchi pazientemente posizionavano in solidi incastri, le lumache trovavano riparo. Questi animali si stanno quasi estinguendo a seguito dell’uso sconsiderato di fertilizzanti chimici nelle campagne. Su questi frammenti di muri, le lumache disegnano labirintiche costellazioni al loro passaggio, su quelli che a me piace chiamare “paesaggi” dove la natura e il tempo rimarcano la loro rivincita sull’artificio.
